Where is the best axe in the forest?
Upon entering the area with water on the floor, follow the wall on the right and there will be a chair on a rock. To the right of the chair is a very long rope. At the bottom of this rope, continue straight and you will enter a room full of boxes. The modern axe is located at the back of the room, on top of some boxes.
As with most axes, the plane axe can be combined with cloth, letting it be lit with the lighter (default L ) for burning damage, or upgraded using tree sap with feathers, teeth, or booze, adding permanent weapon bonuses each time.
- Plane Axe: Found in flight attendant on the main plane.
- Climbing Axe: Found in cave, used to climb up rocks.
- Stone Axe: Crafted with one stick, one rope, and one rock.
- Modern Axe: Found on beach inside a rock.
- Flare Gun: Found in the nose of plane in dead pilots hand.
The modern axe is the most efficient axe to cut down trees, as it takes only nine hits. A plane axe will take 17 hits.
Rusty Axe can block all damage when blocking with it. Modern Axe is faster, stronger, but only blocks 90 percent of damage. Keep in mind some bigger attacks will by pass blocking altogether.
Honestly, I prefer the stone axe for fighting because of it's longer handle so you don't have to be as close to fight the canibals, but stone axe vs fire axe on trees i can't tell a difference. I find the stone axe hits harder. Seems to be more effective on the cannibals. the modern axe while neat, is a pain.
The crafted axe is the slowest of all axes, as well as one of the slowest weapons in the game in terms of speed. However, as the required items are very common, it can be useful to craft this weapon very early in the game. It deals more damage than the Plane Axe, has more knockdown power and a farther reach.

The Flintlock Pistol is the only true firearm in the game at present, if one doesn't count the Flare Gun, as it is more of a signalling device and not a true weapon although it can be used as an improvised one.
Despite the weapon information stating the block power is '0', the katana does block attacks, though the blocking capabilities are one of the worst of any weapon in the game (just as bad as that of the machete). The katana also cannot receive permanent upgrades, though it may be modified with temporary poison upgrades.

Distinguishing features. Forged and ground into a concave shape with a relatively thin edge -This design allows the axe to easily penetrate and effectively split the log as the broader section of axe head pushes apart the wood.

It has been confirmed that Sanity has no effect on the player whatsoever. The developers had plans to incorporate effects, however at this stage it has no effect. The only thing it does is allow the player to build effigies.
Creepy Armour is the strongest armour in The Forest. Creepy Armour reduces the player's sneak ability, making them easier for Mutants and Cannibals to notice. Creepy Armour is the strongest armour in the game.
Weapon Details
The Forest Modern Axe is a useful tool by itself; it is also widely considered the best weapon in the entire game. It's a bit slower than other axes in terms of swinging speed, but it inflicts significantly more damage and has a lot more knockback.
It serves no purpose other than decoration, except for protecting the player from rain. Like the gazebo the final amount of logs is determined by how high the player makes the structure.
Gameplay. When shot, a flare shoots out of the gun towards the direction the player is looking. The projectile flare can set plants on fire, granting the burning status effect, as well as cannibals, mutants, and animals.
Teeth are used with sap to incrementally and permanently upgrade the damage bonus of a melee weapon with each tooth added, though it will slightly reduce the speed. They will drop when a mutant is hit with any weapon or killed.

Where is Cave 1 in the forest?
Cave 1 has 3 entrances: one near the southeast rim of the sinkhole, and two surrounding a small Cannibal Village south from the sinkhole. Inside Cave 1 is a wall that can be blown up with explosives to open a path leading to Cave 9.

The Katana as found in the cave. The weapon is located on the left, at the knees of the business man. The cave 1 exit can be used as a shortcut to get the Katana more easily.
Located near the cockpit was the co-pilot sitting in a chair and there is a flare gun behind him on a seat.
The katana is a very fast weapon and it deals lots of damage quickly. This weapon is very good against common Mutants.
Both versions are sturdy and will last a while, but they both serve different purposes. The main difference between these two tools is that the Stone Axe cannot chop down trees, while the regular Axe can do so in just two hits. This means that which Axe you craft ultimately depends on what you need at the moment.
Cave 4 has an entrance to the south of the Lakeside Village, (northeast of the yacht). It contains one Virginia and several Mutant babies. It's part of Cave 2 - Hanging Cave, but listed separately in the survival guide's to-do list as "keep exploring the hanging cave".
Cave enemies are unique: they will quickly reset to their safe positions if they get stuck or wander off, but they do not respawn when killed (there is a bug where cannibals, not mutants, may occasionally respawn).
Very hard game because the cannibals and mutants are very strong and fast and there are many of them. The armor which you make for yourself gets destroyed very quickly. The use of stealth is a necessary component of this game.
