Is a 1990 Jeep Wrangler fuel-injected?
A fuel-injected, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine was standard on base and low-budget S Wranglers, as well as those with the Islander and Sahara option groups.
Starting in 1991, a fuel-injected 190 hp (134 kW) 4.0 L AMC 242 variant replaced the 112 hp (84 kW) 4.2 L 258 CID straight-6.
Though it is almost identical to earlier YJ Wranglers the engine were instead fed with fuel injection. Fuel injection works much the same as a carburetor. Its design is to combine fuel and air and deliver it to the engine.

I have heard of them being called yuppy jeeps, but I believe the YJ is just the name they were sold as in Canada. I've seen 87-95 wranglers in Canada labeled in the pin-striping as "YJ" rather than "wrangler" that we see in the U.S.. I could be wrong but that's the only explanation I've ever heard.
The YJ makes a good choice if you're looking to spend as little money as possible for a used Wrangler and you're familiar with how to work on your own vehicle. These were not the most reliable years in the Wrangler series, with early issues around electrical, mechanical and body rust.
The manual transmission from 1987-1990 was the BA-10/5, and from 1991 onwards the AX-15 was used.
1989 Wranglers were originally carbed. A Howell fuel injection system is a popular conversion.
Jurassic Park (1993) features the 1992 Jeep Wrangler YJ Sahara. Perhaps no Jeep has been more iconic than that of the Jeeps that roamed the treacherous grounds of Jurassic Park.
What does TJ stand for Jeep?
TJ stands for "True Jeep".

The Jeep Wrangler YJ (1987-1995), the first of the Jeep Wrangler lineup, was produced in 1987 to replace the Civilian Jeep (CJ), and rolled off the production line in Ohio where the original Willys were created for WWll.

It provides optimal spray as part of a set of 6 injectors for maximum fuel efficiency.
The average cost for a Jeep Wrangler fuel injector replacement is between $312 and $357. Labor costs are estimated between $131 and $165 while parts are priced between $182 and $192.

The YJ didn't come with a lot of great transmission options, but with proper care they it last in most on- and off-highway driving conditions. The light-duty AX-5 was the standard five-speed manual transmission behind the I-4, with the TorqueFlite 904 available in '94-'95 models.
Coil springs were also added to the vehicle, departing from the fat spring suspension on the YJ, greatly improving the ride quality. In other words, for overall comfort both on the road and even on trails, the TJ is superior.
Prices Are Steadily Increasing
As the years go by, the trend is for the Wrangler YJ's value to increase, not decrease. As of 2021, a Jeep Wrangler YJ in perfect condition - a term known as “Concours”- would be valued at around $21,200.
Are YJ and TJ frames the same?
One of the more significant differences between the YJ and the TJ has to do with the frame and suspension. Compared to the YJ, the TJ's frame was given a 100 percent increase in torsional stiffness. The frame was an additional 15 percent stiffer with an additional 8-inch lift.
Altogether, the Wrangler was found to not only have a high operating cost, but also very unimpressive test scores when taken out on the open road. At the beginning of 2022, Consumer Reports named the 2022 Jeep Wrangler as the most unreliable car in the market, with a reliability score of only 2 out of 5.
Reliability (along with safety features).
Jeeps hold their value for a reason, and the case can be made for several models on which were most reliable. However, the 2015 Wrangler was unanimously voted the most reliable year to date, with the 1996 model offering newly improved safety upgrades.
The Jeep Wrangler is also really well known for its reliability and low cost of maintenance. Because these are vehicles that were built to take a beating and keep on rolling, overall, there's a general consensus that the high sale prices associated with them are well worth it in the long run.
All 2.5L YJ's are Fuel Injected from the factory. 1987-1990 use a Throttle body Injection setup (TBI), which has one big injector inside of the throttle body.
I have a TJ top on my YJ. It will work and seal well, it just takes a fair bit of grinding due to the angle of the windshield. Just know up front grinding fiberglass kinda sucks. If you are willing to give it a go it can work just fine.

Yes there was no 96 wrangler ,1996 was the transicion year between YJ and TJ,for example my friend's 97 Tj the production date on the sticker @ the door frame it says 09/1996. it seems that 96 was the production year for the TJ,or Chrysler just want that gap for marketing or who knows what.

After the war in 1945, Willy's wanted to produce the Willys MB for civilians. However, the nine-slot grille was Ford's design, so Willy's couldn't trademark it. So Willys subtracted two of the nine slots to make it a seven-slot grille and this was enough of a change to get a trademark.
The YJ with its square headlights, was marketed as a wider more grounded vehicle that couldn't topple over as easily.
The first Jeep Easter egg was hatched long before anyone realized. In 1996 when the Wrangler TJ was unveiled, it wasn't just round headlights that came back to the iconic off-roader. It was also when the first hidden feature was included—and no one noticed. The man behind the first secret perk is Michael Santoro.
