Close in the area around the top of the block so the lava can't escape and leave a space in the middle directly above the block, pointed dripstone, and cauldron. Dump a bucket of lava into the hole. It'll take a bit, but the cauldron will slowly fill with lava until you can harvest it with a bucket.
It can be crafted using 7 iron ingots. Place them in a U shape in the crafting table and collect the cauldron. Now that you have everything, you can create your infinite source of lava.
Make sure the pit is covered by all sides with blocks that can't catch fire. Players can then pour in the lava in all areas to make source blocks. After a few minutes, players will notice that the pointed dripstone will drop lava in the cauldron and it will soon start to fill with lava.

In the new caves and cliffs snapshots a source of lava can drip down a stalactite and slowly fill up a cauldron and I think its only fitting if crying obsidian is able to do the same!

No, that is not going to work. A dispenser cannot perform that type of functionality. This also applies to attempting to dispense into cauldrons, it will just dump a full bucket out.
Lava. A lava cauldron emits a light level of 15 and a Redstone level of 3 when used with a Redstone Comparator. It will still burn you if you go inside of it, but the lava cannot catch wood or other objects on fire when contained in a cauldron.
