Can you make Low Grade Fuel in Rust?
Low Grade Fuel is made by crafting 2 Animal Fat and 1 Cloth together. It can be used in the crafting of Furnaces, various explosives, and Torches. Low Grade Fuel also generates 5 charcoal when used as a fuel source in a furnace.
For this method to work you're going to need to kill a ton of animals. And then harvest their fat.
It can be refined via the Small Oil Refinery into Low Grade Fuel. You can also sell 6 crude oil for 1 scrap at bandit camp. Notes: One Crude Oil can be refined into 3 Low Grade Fuel.
Unrefined Resource | Smelts Into | Unit Fuel Cost |
---|---|---|
Metal Ore | Metal Fragments | 5 Wood |
Sulfur Ore | Sulfur | 2.5 Wood |
Wood | Charcoal | 1.33 Wood |
High Quality Metal Ore | High Quality Metal | 10 Wood |
It can be found in Barrels found next to roads in Junk Piles or out in the ocean on Floating Junk Piles. It can be crafted using Animal Fat and Cloth. It can also be obtained by refining Crude Oil in a Small Oil Refinery.
Crude Oil can be smelted down in a small Oil Refinery to produce 3 low grade fuel per crude oil. Can be found in red barrels along roads and monuments.

Excavator in Rust
An older monument that receives a meaningful change in the tail end of 2021, the excavator allows players to use diesel fuel to excavate resources rather than farming for them. It can even allow players to entirely skip farming stone and metal for upkeep.

How much low-grade does boat use?
The boat consumes 360 low-grade fuel per hour or 6 per minute.
The crude is heated by a furnace and is sent to a distillation tower, where it is separated by boiling point. Then the material is converted by heating, pressure or a catalyst into finished products including fuels like gasoline and diesel, and specialty products like asphalt and solvents.

Metal Ore - 2804 Metal Ore + 1000 Wood
This will take 33 minutes to cook and yield 2804 metal fragments. To make this a little easier to do, fill 13 stacks of 1000 metal.
Animal fat is used in the crafting recipe for Low Grade Fuel, which is used for the Furnace, Repair Bench, and Explosives.

One unit of Diesel fuel will run the excavator for 2 minutes and produce any one of the following yields : 100 HQM. 2000 Sulfur Ore. 10,000 Stone.
Overall, the Giant Excavator is an extremely worthwhile Monument for geared players to farm. The amount of resources you can get is quite silly if you can repeatedly run the machine with a full stack of 20 oil barrels. Thousands and thousands of stone, metal fragments, and sulfur.
The Giant Excavator Pit is the latest point of interest added to the landscape of Rust. Unique from other monuments, the Excavator Pit actually allows groups to mine resources. Think of it like a bigger, more complicated Quarry. Operating this beast is no small task.
A barrel of crude oil is only 42 gallons, not 55 gallons. So to answer your question: On average a barrel of WTI crude oil produces approximately 20 gallons of gas.
Both types of engines are incompatible with each other's fuel. That is, you can't run a diesel engine on gasoline, and you can't run a gasoline engine on diesel. Diesel is too thick for a gasoline's fuel pump system, and gasoline creates too large of an explosion for a diesel engine to handle.
But the average fill-up takes only two minutes, and staying outside the vehicle will greatly minimize the likelihood of any build-up of static electricity that could be discharged at the nozzle.
It is located in front of the driver seat. Once loaded, the RHIB's engine can be started. It uses 900 Low-Grade Fuel per hour or 15 per minute.

Do boats Despawn in Rust?
Boats spawn randomly around the map near shores, rivers, and Lighthouses. Although they cannot be crafted, there are around 64 boats spawned on a normal size (4k) map at any given time. They despawn in 3 hours if not properly parked, so be prepared to build a boathouse once you find one (more on that below).
The world has proven reserves equivalent to 46.6 times its annual consumption levels. This means it has about 47 years of oil left (at current consumption levels and excluding unproven reserves).
Gasoline is made from petroleum oil through the refinery process, which includes Distillation, Conversion, and Treatment.
In an effort to reduce their total processing costs, sour crude producers often seek to refine sour crude into heavy oil products such as diesel and fuel oil (as opposed to gasoline).
1k wood = 2.80 metalfrags per wood. 0 hours, 33 minutes, 20 seconds. Time=33:20, Metal Ore=2804, Sulphur Ore=5106, High Quality Metal Ore=977. 2k wood = 2.39 metalfrags per wood.
You can gain Sulfur by smelting Sulfur Ore in a Furnace, and you will obtain 1 Sulfur per Sulfur Ore. The Furnace burns around 2.5 Wood per Sulfur Ore smelted.
anything other than a base wont decay if its inside the range of the tc. like furnaces, boxes, refinery, etc.
Combustion of moderate-size samples can proceed at a moderate rate of 1-3 g/s (3.6-10.8 kg/hr) if provided with an adequate wick and results in only a small fire of 30-50 kW. In the final test, combustion of 26 kg of fat and skin created a fire of 120-130 kW.
The Fat-to-Fuel Process
Diesel fuel made from animal fats are commonly made from beef tallow, pork lard, and chicken fat. Once the food industry is done with processing, animal fats are then provided to companies that buy animal fats so that the fat can be utilized.
Bone Fragments are used in the crafting recipe for the Bone Knife, Bone Club, Bone Armor, and Bone Helmet. It can be obtained by killing and harvesting animals, as well as from crushing skulls such as a Wolf Skull.
